At £34 and £40 pound each, give or take a penny, these rods are in what most people would call the ‘budget’ bracket of the fishing market….which simply blows me away.
I would find it impossible to put a price on these rods, if somebody hadn’t told me. I’m aware that there are other good manufacturers producing quality budget rods now, but these would certainly hold their ground among the best of them.
Light in weight, they feel good, too, with a nicely designed handle that should result in the minimum of stress on your wrists. Something that is important with a lure rod.
Both the 7′ and 9′ rods are two-piece, have six lined rings each and a reel-seat that gives a good grip on your reel, an area in which many budget rods fail.
There is a marked difference in power between the two; the 7′ version is designed for lures between 10-30g, while the beefier 9′ Matt Hayes Adventure Inca Spin Rod prefers casting weights between 20-60g. It is definitely a chunkier model!
These are an excellent starter rod for lure anglers and the low price shouldn’t put you off. Both rods will happily throw lures around all day, but are made from strong carbon and with big fish in mind, so don’t worry about hooking that ‘biggie’ – these rods will be up to it!
In fact, I’ve earmarked these as stalking rods for next year…alongside the Matt Hayes Shaman spinning rods. Looks like I’d better get my backside in gear for 2013!
The Matt Hayes Adventure Inca Spin Rods also come with a rod bag, for those who like to keep their tackle neat and tidy.
In summary, is this is what the Matt Hayes Adventure range is about, we’re impressed and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending any anglers looking for a new lure rod to take a look at them. They should be available from all good Fladen stockists, or you can CLICK HERE to see the Matt Hayes Adventure range on Amazon.
