If there’s one rig that’s been the buzz word over the last few years, then it has to be the Chod Rig. As good as it is, it can also be quite tricky to tie up for the novice or intermediate angler, and never ones to miss an opportunity in the market, Korda have now released a ready-tied Chod Rig which utilises all their own materials and experience.
Danny Fairbrass has long advocated the benefits of the Chod Rig and this new ready tied version incorporates their very own Korda Choddy Hook and the ever impressive Korda Mouthtrap hooklink material. As you’d expect Danny has stipulated the exact mechanics for every aspect of these ready tied rigs, right down to his specially formulated whipping knot which ensures the knot sits perfectly on the shank, and from what we’ve seen, they’re every bit as special as they sound.
The super sharp Choddy hook guarantees an effective hookhold and the workable properties of the Mouthtrap hooklink gives perfect presentation every time, ensuring your rig will be every bit as good as those tied up by the Korda boys themselves! In fact, Danny thinks they’d all struggle to tie them up as neatly as these ready tied versions… praise indeed!
With varying trends for short and long links, these ready tied versions will be available in short and long with barbed or barbless hooks, allowing you to have various types ready and waiting to go when you hit the bank.
The problem with some of the more technical rigs around is that they need to me constructed just right, or else they simply don’t work the way in which they’re supposed to, which in turn means you’d be fishing with a duff rig! By providing perfect examples each time out of the packet, these ready tied versions not only allow you to get them out there from the off, but they also provide you with a template on which to practice and construct your own rigs for the future.
As was pointed out to me once after reviewing some ready tied rigs by a gentleman suffering from arthritis, there are of course a great many anglers who suffer with various conditions making it difficult for them to tie up complicated rigs, and again, these out of the pack chod rigs offer the ideal solution – just take them out and slide them on – perfect!
The rigs come in packs of three and retail for around £4.99 per pack.
