Over the years I’ve tried all sorts of banksticks and whilst many have been excellent for clay, none has been anywhere near perfect for gravel pits.  In fact, perhaps that’s why pods are so popular despite their disadvantages.  At last however I’ve found the ideal solution.

The key is a long, ultra-thin point that slides in-between pieces of gravel.  A normal thick point often won’t penetrate gravel, even with a screw point.  Additionally, aluminium points aren’t really strong enough.

However the shafts of these banksticks are made from aluminium, which I prefer to stainless steel as they’re considerably lighter.  Apart from looks, many prefer stainless as they’re less likely to bend.  But because I’ve had no problem getting them into the ground, these King’s banksticks haven’t bent at all in several months of use.

Another feature I very much like is the T-bar height adjustment. This is so much easier than the usual knurled screws, especially in cold or wet weather, and moreover locks into position very positively.

To sum up, these are the best banksticks I’ve ever used and I highly recommend them.  They’re available in a wide variety of sizes and cost no more than their major competitors’.  However you may have trouble finding them in the shops, in which case phone King’s Angling on 01708-453043 for your nearest stockist.
