Whether you use imitation baits to top off ‘natural’ baits, or on their own, these £10 sets from the Dragon Carp website will prove to be a useful addition to your tackle box. And if you’ve never used artificials before, then now’s the time to start!
Each set contains three small tubs, approximately 11cm x 9cm, crammed full of imitation grubs, boilies, particles and pellets. There’s even fake luncheon meat in there!
Many of the pieces are already ‘drilled’, so you won’t need to pierce them yourself, making bating up a doddle and free from bloodied fingertips.
Artificial baits are covered in a number of articles here on Anglers’ Net, as well as in many magazines. Truth be known, a LOT of big carp have fallen to just a single piece of artificial sweetcorn! With this set, you have a choice of about 180 pieces that will appeal to many species, including carp, tench, bream, roach, perch, barbel, etc.
At just £10 for the set of three, we reckon these are worth buying. Even if you only use artificial baits now and again, these will soon pay for themselves.
TIP: many anglers still glug their artificial baits. There’s a lot of debate over whether they take on much flavour, but pop a few pieces in a glug pot as soon as you get yours and leave them there all season. That boosted bait may well save your day on more that one occasion, especially when stalking in the margins.
