When deciding which landing net handle would suit both my predator and coarse fishing best, there were a few things I needed to consider. Firstly it had to be tough, extendible and rigid enough to hold a large net head in a strong current without flexing.
There are plenty of options out there on the market, but you won’t go far wrong with this well designed high modulus carbon net pole from Drennan. The handle is finished with a wide band graphite over wrap to give extra rigidity, plus the standard screw fitting is solid brass and sealed in place to prevent water seeping into the top section.
Dimension wise, the pole is 1.6m (5ft 3”) when closed but extends up to a full 3m (10ft) in length with just a simple quarter turn twistlock action that delivers you that extra length when needed.
Now the price; well, £39.99 seems to be the norm generally, which is about right in my opinion and worth paying for a product that, when looked after, will stand the test of time.
