Float fishing on big rivers or modern commercial waters means you need a rod with power to stop barbel, chub and carp.
But at the same time, you don’t want that power at a price and by that I mean a carbon stick that is fat and heavy in the hand.
The Avanti InDestructX is the perfect balance between hi-tech carbon and high performance.
It is sold as ‘virtually unbreakable’ and I have to say once you latch into a big fish that’s heading towards the reedbeds, you do remain confident the guts that sweep through the carbon from tip ring to first spigot are always going to deliver a winning advantage.
The three piece rod has a progressive curve that won’t lock up and is whipped with tough lined guides. It also has a split duplon handle that feels great in the hand.
The IndestructX claims to be virtually unbreakable and has a multitude of uses but isn’t at its best trying to hit tiny roach bites on the waggler at range. But if its regular river and lake work targeting fish that fight, you’ll be hard pushed to find better. For £30 it’s a steal and most people would be prepared to pay twice that price.
