A great week for fishing at Wellsfield Trout Fishery for fly and bait fishing. The average weight at Wellsfield this week was 3lb 2oz as many 4-6lb fish were caught. All 3 lochans at Wellsfield Fishery fished very well for fly and bait fishing.
Fly fishers caught most fish 3-4ft under the surface using floating or sink tip lines, counting the flies down. Bait anglers have found ledgered baits (worms / maggots). Spinning using small mepps also worked well.
FISH OF THE WEEK was a 12lb Rainbow Trout caught by D Horne (Stirling) (see photo below).
One £50 RED TAGGED TROUT was caught by lucky angler A Wilson (Stirling) in his bag of 5 fish from the top fly pond.
Best flies this week: Black / Green Nomad, Craft Eye Cats, Sparklers, Buzzers, Diawl Bachs. Best Baits: Maggots, Worms and Small Mepps.
