Another good week for fly and bait fishing at Wellsfield Trout Fishery. Most anglers bagged their fish limits. The average was 3 fish per angler, average weight 3lb.
Fly fishers caught most fish 3-4ft under the surface using floating or sink tip lines. Bait anglers have found floated baits (worms / maggots). Spinning using small mepps also worked well.
FISH OF THE WEEK was a 10lb Rainbow Trout caught by R Collins (Clackmannan) in his bag of 3 fish for 16lb from the bait pond using powerbait and maggots.
One £50 RED TAGGED 5lb TROUT was caught by lucky angler S Sharp (Kincardine) in his bag of 5 fish for 16lb from the two fly ponds.
Best flies this week: Lime Green Fritz, Green Pea, Orange Dancer, Cormorant, Buzzers, Diawl Bachs. Best Baits: Maggots, Powerbait and Small Taz’s.
