News release from the Angling Trust

£1,200 Added to Prize pool for Angling Trust’s RiverFest 2013 grand final.

The Angling Trust is delighted to announce an increase of £1,200 towards the Angling Trust RiverFest prize pool for the grand final on 16th and 17th November, 2013.

An additional place has been added to the list of prizes with 6th place now claiming £700. Ten section winners each day will also see their pay out increase to £175.

Entries were slightly lower on some qualifier venues this year, and the original prize pool of £24,000 was subject to all qualifiers being sold out, however sponsorship of the grand final has now increased projecting £1,200 above budget, and helped increase the prize pool for the grand final.

This will be the first ever Angling Trust RiverFest final taking place this weekend on the River Wye at Hereford. 60 anglers will be competing to win a share of the £25,200 prize fund on offer with the winner walking away with a fantastic guaranteed £10,000 prize fund, and the prestigious title of Angling Trust RiverFest Champion 2013.

Both Thames Water and Severn Trent Water are contributing a total of £4,000 sponsorship which will go towards the prize pot for the grand final, a sign of their continued support and commitment to angling and river fishing in their respective regions.

Daiwa Sports have also donated their latest TDR2508 reel worth £245 for the angler who catches the biggest fish over the weekend, and the section stewards also have a chance of getting in on the action with a prize draw to win a TDM2508 reel worth £150.

The Angling Trust would like to offer their appreciation and thanks to Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, Bait-Tech and Daiwa for their support.

Spectators are welcome to come along and watch the action. Parking and entry is free for Angling Trust members and you’ll be able to watch and meet some of the best river anglers in the country doing their stuff.  There is a path along the full length of the river where the match will be held and access is easy.  Cars should be parked in the field adjacent to the Hereford Rowing Club at the bottom of Greyfriars Avenue.

Spectators will also have the use of the facilities and be able to get refreshments at the rowing club where there will be a bookmaker present to take bets on your fancied anglers.

In addition, Dave Harrell, the man behind the idea of Angling Trust RiverFest, will be on hand to answer your questions and to show you his full range of DH Angling products.   Sky Sports will also be in attendance on 17th November to televise the event.

The draw takes place each day at 8am and the club is open to Angling Trust members from 9am. Fishing is from 10.30am until 3.30pm each day.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!
