News Release From The Pike Anglers Club

Top pikers will be sharing some of the secrets of their success at Britain’s top event for predator anglers.  Julian Chidgey will be topping the speakers’ bill at the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain’s annual convention, at Kettering Conference Centre, on Saturday, September 25. Devon-based Jules will be sharing the stage at Piking2010, along with Eric Edwards, Mark Ackerley and Gary Knowles.

PAC chairman John Synnuck said: “This year’s convention promises to be a fantastic experience with guest speakers, new books being launched and stalls with all the latest tackle. “It’s going to b a great day out – an occasion not to be missed whether you’re a seasoned pike angler or a newcomer to this exciting sport.”

Broadland pike ace Derrick Amies will be launching his new book, which reveals the controversial tactics which saw him bag a boatload of big pike, including a record-breaker from Norfolk’s River Thurne. Derrick details his views on moon phases and the key question of location, which so often spells the difference between a blank and a bumper day. Convention-goers will get the chance to save £10 if they order in advance and collect their copy at the Convention. Other books to be launched at the Convention include ‘Dream Pike’ edited by Stephen Harper, and the latest offering from Pike-Fly Fishing expert David Wolsencroft-Dodds.

As usual, there will be a host of stalls selling the widest range of pike fishing tackle you can find under one roof – whether you want a packet of hooks, the latest lure rod or even a boat. You can stock up for the season, try out rods and other gear and hunt for bargains on our second-hand tackle and lure stalls.

Independents nestle alongside the big names, such as Eddie Turner, specialist rod bulder Dave Lumb, lure makers and cult bite alarm builders Billy’s Backbiters and Zandervan.

The Kettering Conference Centre boasts a 562 tiered seated theatre large trade area, bars, refreshments, free parking. It’s just off the Junction 8 of the A14, which links the A1 and M1, in the heart of England.

Doors open 9am. Admission £10 (PAC member),
£15 (non-members). Accompanied juniors FREE.
