Shane Welch had an incredible 48 hour session on the South Lagoon at Wyboston landing 16 carp which included two 30lb+ mirrors at 33lb 10oz and 32lb 10oz, commons of 25lb 4oz and 20lb 10oz with the remaining 12 fish being in the 12lb-18lb 10oz range. Shane also caught 6 bream for good measure. The only dampener on Shanes trip was when the largest mirror escaped from his carp sack before photos could be taken.
On the same venue Bill Vincent tempted 4 commons to 17lb 8oz and an 11lb zander which just like last weeks club record 16lb 8oz zander from the same venue had a taste for boilies. Good bags of skimmers are still being caught along bream to 6lb+. The South Lagoon is part of the Wyboston Lakes Complex and can be fished by members and also on a day, night or 24 hour ticket at £6, £10 and £16 respectively which is excellent value for money as the 20 acre former gravel pit has produced three different 30’s in recent weeks and recently a 40lber was rumoured to have been caught from the River Great Ouse which feeds the lake via an inlet so the fish are free to move between the river and the lake.
On the nearby North House Lake Steve Slater landed a 23lb common on Innovate Squid 2t and Gary Westcott had 4 doubles on S2t.
Despite the cold nights the canal is still fishing well and the anglers fishing outside Tesco in the centre of Leighton Buzzard this week were catching plenty of roach and skimmers.
At Woodlands Lake on the Tingrith Complex Barton based rod Nobby Parkes has been successful with multiple carp catches up to the 5lb mark, fishing from lunchtime through to early evening, fishing with pellets as bait fished over a few freebies.
Other anglers have been rewarded with quality roach over 1lb with maggots and bread being the successful bait.
Flitwick based regular Reg Blyth had a bumper midweek session with tench, roach, carp and bream with bread, pellet and meat being the winning combination.
At this time of year the fish can be found at all depths, so anglers are advised to keep working their pegs and varying their depths until they find the fish.
Charlie Riddock went for a wander up the bank at Woodlands recently to get some photo footage for the website, and stumbled across an area that someone had used as a toilet! Can we just request that if anglers are ‘caught short’ whilst at the venue, could they do the decent thing and bag it up and dispose of it somewhere else – preferably at home!

Luton AC are looking for someone to help with the clubs finances so if you feel that you could lend a hand please telephone the club office on 01582-728114. Applicants should note that this is an unpaid position.
Luton AC bailiffs have been conducting night patrols and successfully removing anglers from no night fishing sections with the backing of the Police. Anglers are reminded that only Luton AC members may fish the canal at night and then only from specified sections.
Through a water share arrangement with Barnet Angling Club Luton AC members may also fish several additional stretches (not listed in the membership book) of the River Great Ouse, River Ivel and River Thames, maps that show parking areas etc are available to download from the club web site or by sending a request with an A5 sae (large size stamp please) to the club office. These waters offer excellent fishing for barbel, tench, bream and carp.
Please phone/text your catch reports from Luton AC waters to 07704462635 or email catchreports@lutonac.org and if you have pictures taken on your phone send picture messages to 07876331180. Remember to always use an unhooking mat when targetting specimen fish, keeping the fish as low to the ground as possible when taking photos.
