Due to a printing delay, the club was a little late sending out renewal forms and membership books. Members will have been receiving their newsletters and renewal forms over the last week with the books to follow soon after. Luton AC offers fantastic fishing for most species with Carp to 37lb+, Tench 8lb+, Bream 10lb+, Chub 7lb+, Zander 16lb+, Pike near 30lb, Perch 3lb+ and Roach and Rudd over 2lb. All of the clubs stillwaters including 12 miles of the Grand Union Canal are open all year round and alot offer secure parking close to the venue. Unlike some clubs Luton AC do not charge a premium for night fishing or fishing between March and June. Money from subscriptions is continually being ploughed back into improving the fisheries for the benefit of its members through work parties throughout the year.
Congratulations this week to young Mason Lougher age 8 who has won a Top Rod prize in Angler’s Mail for his canal perch which appeared a few weeks ago in this column.

On the adjacent South Lagoon plenty of roach and skimmers are being caught. Andy Wilkinson caught three bream to 8lb while Darren Walters had a 15lb mirror and two bream to 7lb.
Dave Hyne fished Beckerings for a 19lb 2oz common with ‘Shy Simon’ Jacksons dad’ having seven carp to 22lb. Tony Sessions enjoyed some good bream fishing on the tip with fish between 5 and 8lb gracing his net.
On the canal the members area at Slapton is still fishing well for roach topping 1lb with best baits being maggot, hemp, tare and pellet. Elsewhere the best reported carp from the canal this week has been a fish of 19lb 8oz on legered boilie.
The winner of our May photo competition will receive 10kg of the new Starmer Baits Coconut Fish boilies. It is open to anyone (members and non members) submitting a digital photo taken on any Luton AC controlled water and it can be of absolutely anything eg a sunset on the canal, a nice fish, wildlife etc. The photos submitted cannot be over a month old, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result.
