Lowrance, a world-leading brand in marine electronics since 1957, is pleased to announce that it is supporting the 2012 British Cod Championships. The biggest cod competition in the UK, the Championships regularly sees 200 competitors take part to prove their mettle and pit their wits against the stalwart of the British seas, the cod.
The British Cod Championships has been taking place annually for more than twenty years and attracts a whole range of would be winners from professional anglers to those who have just learned to skewer a squid!
Competition organiser and member of West White Charter Skippers Association Tim Doswell said: “I can honestly say the British Cod Championships is the one everyone wants to win, not least because it takes place in the most famous winter cod spot – the Needles, just off the coast of the Isle of Wight. There’s such a good atmosphere at the Championships, everyone has a good time and is keen to land the biggest catch, which makes for some great competition.
“We’re really pleased to have Lowrance as part of this year’s competition, most of our competitors know Lowrance as the fisherman’s brand, so we can’t wait to put their echo-sounders through their paces to help land the ultimate cod! Who knows, maybe this is the year we get a record-breaker!!”
For those taking part in the prestigious competition on the 22nd November from Lymington Town Sailing club, there’s up to £3,000 in cash up for grabs, as well as some great prizes from the Lowrance team.
