As has come to be expected at Llys-y-Fran with the season drawing to its conclusion, November regularly proves to be a good month for anglers who visit the water. Whether fishing fly or ledgered worm.
Anglers fishing fly from the bank have again been very successful in areas such as “The Field”, “Badgers” and especially the “Top End”, using an assortment of lines from intermediate to D.I.7. Successful patterns have included flies such as Diawl Bach, Olive Lures, black and green Montana, Viva, Boobies and Blobs.
Boat anglers are also doing well whilst fishing the “Top End” or “The Point”, with fish holding in numbers in these areas and on bright days, feeding heavily in the upper reaches.
Brian Dalton of Haverfordwest took one of the heaviest bags for those anglers fishing Fly from the bank over the past month. Brian’s six fish bag totalled 16lbs 8ozs and included a best fish of 4lbs.
Those opting to fish Fly from the boat have produced a number of six fish limits, when opting to fish on intermediate lines on some of the calmer brighter days. Mike Elias of Carmarthen took the heaviest bag for an angler fishing this method during November. Mike’s limit bag totalled 15lbs and included a heaviest fish of 3lbs.
Anglers fishing Ledgered worm are also doing well within most areas, although the “Field” and West Bank seem to be producing the best results. Phil Jones of Letterston recently recorded a six fish limit of 17lbs 2ozs with a best fish of just 3lbs 6ozs. Well done Phil.
The staff at Llys-y-Fran would like to take this opportunity to thank all our anglers for their support throughout the 2012 season and to wish each and everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. We look forward to see all of you during the 2013 season
