Jo-Jo’s Lake, the new ‘runs water’, is providing very popular sport for visitors with numerous anglers landing multiple hits of fish, especially if using Pallatrax products. The Method was the technique of choice for Pallatrax MD Simon Pomeroy and Brian Gay who opted to fish Crustacean Crush method mix and baits from the Naturals range to take a series of fish to 23lbs during their recent session. Simon wraps the method mix around one of his patented Stonze weights and uses a short hooklink to provide direct indication of bites, and it’s a system proving especially successful as water temperatures continue to climb. Josh Adams had a six fish hit of carp to 9lbs and finished off with an 8lbs tench, and Darren Fleet also had a good day when he netted seven carp to 11lbs on a mixture of Pallatrax and Steve Renyard baits.
The Specimen Lake is also throwing up plenty of big fish to anglers taking advantage of day ticket access. Martin Cadle bagged himself a new personal best at 34lbs when a passing mirror carp picked up his halibut pellet, Simon Wardle presented Mainline Cell in the margin to trap a lovely 29lbs 10ozs common, also a new pb and Matt Briggs used small white pop ups to take four pristine commons to 20lbs. Another angler gaining a new personal best is Mike Watts; after casting his fishmeal boilies to a likely looking spot, Mike took fish of 11lbs, 17lbs 12ozs then a mirror of 29lbs 12ozs and then another at 33lbs! A real ‘red letter day’! There have been too many other fish to mention anglers individually, but other captures of note include Paul Partlett’s 22lbs 5ozs catfish, a 12lbs 10ozs golden grass carp for Stuart Fivash and a nice 3lbs+ eel for Nigel Rogers. Halibut pelets are proving irresistible to catfish and the carp are predominantlybeing caught on Pallatrax, Steve Renyard and Nash baits.
The brand new cafe/shop overlooking Jo-Jo’s is nearing completion, final adjustments to take into account gas safety regulations have been complied with, so the building should be up and running very soon! A bacon sandwich and cup of tea as you watch the sun rise over the lakes will soon be available! A comprehensive range of bait and tackle will also be stocked on site once opened.
