At last, warmer weather has seen a spell of settled fishing and plenty of fish on the bank. The Specimen Lake has fared extremely well this week, with multiple catches reported by most anglers including Russ Bates who had eight fish to 27lb 4oz using our own Emperor branded Cornwall Baits boilies.
Phil Jakes contributed a brace of smaller fish on PB Baits offerings, Nigel Rogers had three fish to 15lb+ on Pallatrax Jungle and a much better sample at 28lb 2oz which fell to his Mainline Cell baited rig. Aaron Fisher chipped in with a trio of carp into double figures which featured a smashing ghost common on the ever reliable Steve Renyard Azure baits, a 17lb 2oz common was just reward for Richard Vanstone and twelve year old Paighton rod Flynn Dark gained a new personal best after he landed a 14lb 10oz common on a Northern Special pop up.
Flynn also used a bunch of worms to bag a kitten of 9lb, but the bigger cats are on the move as Dave Pierce found when a 21lb 4oz cat fish picked up his 10mm Scopex Cream bait and he also accounted for low double figure carp.
21lb 4oz Cat for Dave Pierce
Our former syndicate water has seen limited numbers of day ticket anglers, and those who have ventured forth have had to work hard for their fish. Steve Bell visited for the first time and used Steve Renyard to trap a heavily scaled mid double, but fish of the week goes to Joe Kelly who fished Palltrax Jungle on the hook which proved too tempting for a stunning 29lb 12oz mirror.
Aimee’s Pool has fished exceptionally well this week with specimen tench for Rod Worrall, plenty of good roach in excess of 1lb to Steve Sampson and some big perch for Neil Edgar of Neil Edgar Angling Photography. An overnight frost did slow sport for the Newbarn Match Team, but all anglers caught and the weigh proved competitive.
New Pool Jo-Jo’s has seen its first baits after Emperor Lakes owner David Lidstone had a couple of peaceful hours, which resulted in four single figure fish in excellent condition. This lake has been designed as a ‘runs water’, offering good sport all year and will open in June. Bookings are being taken now on 07814060147 and a ticket will cost just £17.50 for 24 hours, and £10 for a day session; best fish is currently known to take the scales around to 26lb!
