After the big fish of last week, we thought it couldn’t get any better…..but it has! Even more of the big fish have hit the bank this time, and we think that so far this year, thirteen different 30’s have been landed!
Ace Baits and Trapped Carp Clothing consultant Pete Skrivanos is once again amongst the carp with a brace of lumps; Pete fished the deeper water near the dam wall on the Syndicate pool to net a lovely common of 33lbs 4ozs, and a mirror of 33lbs 10ozs. Pete has featured regularly in recent reports with his winter efforts, and his ACE Baits are certainly working well.
The deeper water also threw up a cracking fish of 32lbs 2ozs for Trakker backed angler Chris Manifold which was a superb reward in awful weather. More big fish for Mark Owen who offered Northern Special pop ups on chod rigs near the dam wall to weigh two fish of 27lbs 4ozs and 32lbs 4ozs. Highlight of this week though has to be a fantastic 41lbs 8ozs cracker for Craig Sheffield taken on Solar Club Mix baits. This water has really ‘switched on’ over the last few days, and as it will offer full day ticket access from April 2013, we expect demand to be high, so please call 07814060147 if you would like to make an enquiry.
On the current day ticket specimen water, after the brace of 27lb fish last week for Chris Knotley and Kelvin Pyke, is still giving up good numbers of carp. Dave Wood used Pallatrax squab baits to attract a 16lbs 4oz mirror carp, Chris Brown had a new personal best common of 25lbs 10ozs on his very first visit using Mainline Cell and plenty of other double figure fish are reported.
Our pike water continues to attract a lot of interest from predator anglers looking to target quality fish on a day ticket. Pallatrax backed angler Ray Pulford float legered sardine deadbaits to account for a 10lb snapper and then surpassed that one with a new personal best of 16lbs 8ozs! If you have never fished for pike, but would like to learn how to handle them safely, then tutorials are available to help you net your first!
Individual anglers claiming mixed nets of around 60lbs are forming the mainstay of this week’s catches from Aimee’s Pool. Plymouth father and son Mark and Gary Rogers shared 100lbs between them during very cold weather when they used a combination of maggot and corn hookbaits, so despite conditions, fish are feeding well.
Digging has recommenced to provide an increased area of water at Emperor Lakes. There are plans in place for further waters onsite in addition to a purpose built shop and lodge accommodation as we continue to enhance the site. During clearance operations, owner David Lidstone investigated one of the silt traps and recovered a superb double figure tench which was returned to the pools safely; this is just one example of how careful management has seen fish prosper at Emperor Lakes and increase in size when given a healthy eco system.
Our Facebook and Twitter continue to be used by increasing numbers of anglers as words spreads about Emperor Lakes, so please check us out and join in!
