The weather has been just tremendous with temperatures in double figures. With that in mind the classy big rainbows are really catching well and quite a few anglers have bagged one of these beauties.

Every year a group of Dungiven based anglers run a competition between Christmas and the New Year, weather permitting, with us here at Cashel. The staff provided a wholesome home cooked meal, an open fire, plenty of craic and of course plenty of big trout. A cash prize was awarded to the overall winner with the heaviest trout. A total of twenty-four trout were caught between eight anglers.
Cathal Hasson was the winner with his biggest trout weighing 6lb 9ozs which fell to an orange cat’s whisker.
