NEWS FROM
WINGHAM FISHERIES
What a season Matt Jones is having! He started by breaking the Wingham venue record in May with a 51-10 mirror. In September he won the British Carp Angling Championship. Now he’s gone back to Wingham in Kent and hauled out a brace of 40s, a PB English common of 44-04 plus a mirror of 41-14!
The 41 year old company director from Croydon fished a trough alongside an island that he’d baited at the end of a session the weekend before. Within an hour of casting out he had the big common. Exactly 24 hours later he added the mirror.
The successful bait was a Terry Dempsey Nutcracker boilie fished on a size 6 Korda Choddy hook to a 15lb ESP hinged stiff rig.
Matt commented, “Wingham is an awesome fishery with young English carp. The mirror is yet another new 40lber, and the 44lb common is well up in weight. My target is an even bigger common that had already reached 47-08 last year. It would really round off a brilliant season if I caught this at over 50lbs as well!”
