MARUKYU – if you read the angling press, then you cannot have failed to see their name. Whether it was in a feature, an advert or a catch report, it’s a name that is both memorable and frequent in its appearance!
I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about them. I’ve observed the company from afar and, like some of my friends, had a few reservations when they first appeared on the scene. However, I wasn’t totally dismissive of the use of science in the production of fishing baits, especially as an old acquaintance by the name of Dr. Bruno Broughton was involved. Bruno helped launch Anglers’ Net with some of his science-based articles and many of our readers really rate his expertise, as do I. The Japanese, too, take their fishing bait very, very seriously. Often, it is the only way you can differentiate anglers in their style of competition fishing.
Then,a Facebook friend by the name of Wendy Perry started using Marukyu baits…and caught well on them. Before she knew it, she was working for them. Quite a change of career, but it showed how much faith Wendy had in the bait!
Any reservations I may have had are now distant memories…
