I’ve just been contacted by an old acquaittp://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574637365&toolid=10001&campid=5335900549&customid=gary+smith+kayaks&icep_item=150372447207&ipn=pntance who told me that he has put all of his kayak fishing equipment up for sale, including the fishing kayaks themselves and a custom-made trailer. Being a nosey so-and-so, and knowing how serious this man is about his fishing, I just had to take a look!
You can see the listing by clicking here, but here’s a copy of the words that accompany the listing:
“For sale are 4 Malibu X Factor fishing kayaks with a custom built trailer which has two storage compartments and holds 6 kayaks. The whole outfit was bought in February 2007 for my Gary Smith Fishing / Kayak Fishing Spain enterprise and to host the first kayak fishing competition in Southern Spain which featured in the Spanish press and TV. The kayaks were used in Spain until their return to the UK in November 07 and then have been used once for promotional work at 7 Lakes Country Park North Lincolnshire. They are in good overall condition with only a couple of clips on the anchor system requiring replacement. The seats have faded with the Spanish sunshine and there is the usual marking to the hulls from sand beaching. There is a generous compliment of spares included with the package. All, paddles, equipment fitted and attached is Crack of Dawn or Scotty. The trailer was custom built and is in good condition with new spare wheel and rod holders. All dimensions and info is available on the Malibu site http://www.malibukayaks.com/kayak_xFactor.asp
1. Orange X Factor has seat with rear storage pouch, 4 tackle leashes, 3 Scotty rod holder mounts, 2 trolling tubes, anchor system, anchor & drum, Eagle Cuda 168 fish finder & battery, paddle.
2. Blue X Factor 1 has seat with drinks holders and pouch to rear, 5 tackle leashes, 4 Scotty rod holder mounts, 2 trolling tubes, anchor system, anchor & bag, Hummingbird Pirahna Max 20 fish finder & battery, Magellan GPS mount, paddle.
3. Yellow X Factor has seat with pouch at rear, 4 tackle leashes, 3 Scotty rod holder mounts, 2 trolling tubes, anchor system, anchor & drum, Eagle Cuda 168 fish finder & battery, paddle.
4. Blue X Factor 2 has seat with pouch to rear, 4 tackle leashes, 3 Scotty rod holder mounts, 2 trolling tubes, anchor system, anchor & drum, Hummingbird Max 220 fish finder & battery, front bow seat lid upgrade, paddle.
Spares include:- Set of trolley wheels and transport frame, emergency paddle, spare seat, seat base, standard bow lid, transducer, 6 Scotty rod holder bases, 1 Scotty rod holder, 1 Scotty T Bar which is a base mount for three rods, H style double rod holder for box fitting, straps, clips, screws, rivets, elastic rope and many more small parts.
Trailer is a 6 kayak trailer specially designed to transport the X Factors the right way up so the equipment remains in the kayaks. 8 rod holders are mounted to the front. 2 large storage boxes run either side of the trailer providing enough space to store all equipment. They are covered with elasticated fitted sheets and are waterproof. The spare wheel is mounted on the A frame and has never been used, the trailer has only covered 1500 miles from Mazarron in Spain to North Lincs UK. The lights are on an adjustable slide out system so longer kayaks or canoes can be transported.
This is an excellent package and is regrettably being sold due to lack of time to use the equipment to the full due to work load and other projects. Buyer must collect. Pay Pal before collection or cash on collection.”
The auction for this lot ends on the 11th October, 2009. Click here to view it. Even if you’re reading this after that date, it’s well worth clicking to see how much it fetched!
