As anyone who knows me will confirm, I’m a bit of a pocket warmer addict. I currently own two and, during the winter months, they are pretty much on 24-hour duty. Originally, I bought the Standard Peacock Pocket Warmer (you can read the review by CLICKING HERE). I then got the Mini Peacock Pocket Warmer (and you can read the review of that one by CLICKING HERE). And, if I’m honest, I’ve also got my eye on the Zippo one that you can see by clicking here! Told you I was addicted!
However, when I posted details of these onto our Anglers’ Net on Facebook page, one member, who shall remain anonymous (Hi, Wendy!), mentioned that she’d bagged a cheaper one from Hong Kong, for silly money in fact, and emailed me the details. In the name of fairness, I decided to share those details with you. This could, quite possibly, be the cheapest fuel-burning pocket warmer in the world. Or the cheapest hand warmer in the world – what you call them seems to be a personal thing!
Now, I have to say that I haven’t tried these. I quite like the idea of the fact that the ones I buy in the UK could cause the seller lots of trouble if they decided to set my pants alight, but this reader tells us that the one she bought from Hong Kong hasn’t caused her any problems, and I don’t doubt her word.
Most people will tell you that you’re taking a chance when buying stuff from Hong Kong. Many will also say similar things about buying from eBay. I must be incredibly lucky (perhaps it’s my Irish surname), because I’ve bought quite a few things from Hong Kong eBay sellers over the years and they’ve always been good quality, delivered promptly (all things considered) and I’ve never even had the dreaded customs tax slapped on them! I think that only applies to higher value goods – mine have all been smaller items, mainly camera accessories and a couple of awesome laser pointers.
The pocket warmer in question, at the time of writing, is just £6.99….INCLUDING DELIVERY TO THE U.K.!
Yes, you did read that correctly!
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m all pocket-warmered up, I’d probably bag a couple.
And if I ended up with scorch marks on my family jewels, I’d blame Wendy.
You can see if the original listing for this item still exists by CLICKING HERE. If not, try CLICKING HERE to see the seller’s profile and search among the other stuff they sell (it may be that they relisted them).
