Saturday 13th July sees the incredible 20th running of Fish ‘O’ Mania, as 16 qualifying anglers go all out for the £30,000 top prize in front of a huge audience on Sky Sports as well as thousands more at the venue.
Favourite for the title, which takes place at Cudmore Fisheries near Stoke, must surely be two-time Fish ‘O champion Nathan Watson, who last won the Champion of Champions match in 2010 to cement his place in the event’s history.
Neil McKinnon is another former winner competing and he will be looking to emulate Matt Hall as the only ever two-time winner of the main match. 2010 was McKinnon’s year and he overhauled a 6 kilo deficit in the final 30 minutes to pip former England legend Tom Pickering at the post. Coincidentally, Pickering has qualified for his second ever Fish ‘O’ Mania final and will be looking for revenge.
Also in the field is England man Darren Cox, who is making his fourth appearance having finished 6th, 4th and 2nd in his other attempts. There are plenty of other anglers in with a shout for what is fishing’s most sought after title.
On the Sunday, the attention turns to the Internationals as pairs from eight different countries do battle for a £10,000 top prize. Will Raison and Alan Scotthorne both have a 100% track record here, having been members of England’s victorious four man team in 2011 and ’12 when it was a home international match.
As well as England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, teams from France, Holland, Hungary and Germany are making the trip to have a shot at the top prize and £5,000 runners-up cheque.
Now firmly established in the British summertime sporting calendar, Fish ‘O’ Mania represents a fun day out for all the family with tackle stands, hot food and a beer tent as well as two fantastic angling matches.

Format (Main match)
There are 16 competitors, who have qualified from regional qualifiers, fishing a five hour match to determine the 20th annual Fish ‘O’ Mania Champion. The match is fished to Angling Trust match rules with some local rules applying including no floating baits to be fed, barbless hooks must be used and no use of floating pole.
The competitors are weighed in every 30 minutes and at the conclusion of the five hour match, the angler with the greatest aggregate weight of the ten weigh-ins, will be declared the champion.
Format (Ladies)
There are six competitors, who have qualified by being the top six finishers at the Ladies National. The match lasts for four hours with weigh-ins every hour. The angler with the greatest aggregate weight of the four weigh-ins, is declared the champion

Format
Eight two-man teams representing England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Holland plus three other European nations compete in a five hour match. The match will comprise an initial draw whereby the 16 pegs will be paired (i.e. 1 & 9, 2 & 10, 3 & 11 etc) and each team will draw a pair of pegs. There will be half-hourly weigh-ins and the winning team will be the one that records the largest combined aggregate weight at the close of the match.

There are six competitors, who have qualified by being the top six finishers at the Junior National. The match lasts for four hours with weigh-ins every hour. The angler with the greatest aggregate weight of the four weigh-ins, is declared the champion
