A return to cooler weather has seen the number of fish on the bank fall slightly, but the fish are still feeding and our regulars are still catching carp! Emperor Lakes current ‘poster boy’ Chris Rampling continued his run of consistency and was once again amongst the bigger specimens on the syndicate with a 30lbs 9ozs mirror which took a liking to his favoured ACE Baits orange pop ups. Plymouth rod Matt Holland used ‘King of the Pond’ rig components to present an Essex Baits boilie which accounted for a cracking common of 33lb 8ozs, Craig Sheffield followed up last week’s 41lb’er with another sample at 29lbs 12ozs on the same Solar Club Mix bait and Rob Pierce broke his long standing drought with a brace of fish weighing in at 27lbs and 35lbs 14ozs which both fell to Mainline New Grange. We are still taking bookings for available dates in April and beyond, so if you want to be on the bank when the syndicate lake gains full day ticket access, then contact Emperor Lakes on 07814060147.

The specimen lakes have thrown up yet more fish for brothers Dave and Paul Woods; Dave bagged a 19lb fish and Paul chipped in with a low double when they used Pallatrax Jungle baits in open water. An angling group from Exeter visited and shared a number of fish to over 20lbs on their first visit when they concentrated on small pva bag tactics combined with small hookbaits. Plenty of other good fish have been reported and day tickets are available.
Newbarn Farm anglers visited Aimee’s pool this week and enjoyed good sport with mixed bags of quality roach, perch, smaller carp and skimmers falling to a variety of tactics; as always in cooler water, corn, maggot, bread and soft pellets are doing well.
Heavy digging will recommence in earnest this week with three plant machines on site to finish the expansion of the lake to be known as Jojo’s pool before being combined with the existing Aimee’s pool to increase the area to well over 2.5 acres. Further pools will also be constructed and used as junior coaching areas throughout 2013 as Emperor Lakes develop a junior programme designed to introduce youngsters to angling in a safe and educational environment.
