On the adjacent South Lagoon, Eric Jones fishing his own Red Eric Baits managed commons of 23lb 8oz and 21lb plus a 17lb 4oz mirror. Plenty of bream in the 2-3lb range are being caught on the feeder.
At Beckerings Reservoir Charlie Riddock tempted a 26lb 4oz mirror along with commons of 15lb & 20lb. Mick Stringer had a dozen off the top to upper doubles. Tony Sessions has been getting amongst the roach and skimmers plus some big bream to 9lb on pole tactics. I’m told that some of the marginal areas at Beckerings are very shallow at the moment 2-3 feet from the edge and in the interests of returning fish safely waterproof boots are recommended.

There is a canoe race taking place on the Grand Union Canal on 23rd October 2011 between 10am & 2pm from the canoe launch area on Town South to Cooks Wharf at section 15 and back. Anglers are recommended to avoid that area of the canal as fishing will be severely disrupted due to the number of canoes, marshals and spectators.
Tons of Tackle has opened next to the snooker club at Admiral Place High Street North Dunstable. They sell fresh bait including maggots and worms and are offering a 10% discount for LAC members on production of your membership book. They are also open late on a Thursday.
Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has launched a web site for anglers to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK. The site is easy to use and will gather vital data to help persuade government of the need for action to protect fisheries. Visit www.cormorantwatch.org
