Callum Anderson age 4 from Leighton Buzzard enjoyed his session on the Grand Union Canal with his dad catching quality roach and skimmers using a 3 metre whip and red maggot.
Nearby, Mason Lougher age 8 fished with dad Mark with Mason catching perch to 1lb and Mark having a 16lb mirror carp.

Two day ticket anglers fished section 13, one with 13m pole and the other with float fished waggler tactics. Both caught over 25lb of mainly bream to 3.5lb along with the odd roach, with sweetcorn doing the damage. Maggots produced a bite a chuck, but it was generally from small perch and gudgeon, whereas the corn produced a better stamp of fish.
Brett Herdman fished the members section at Slapton for a good bag of quality roach to 1lb and hybrids up to 1.5lb on float fished corn.
Steve Edwards fished at North House Lake catching a 26lb common. As reported last week, Mark Ridgeway tempted a 27lb 4oz common and we now have the picture (below).
Also on North House Bruce Starling managed a 25lb 4oz mirror plus commons of 21lb 8oz, 19lb 8oz, 16lb and 14lb 4oz, Robert Langdon an 18lb mirror, Scott Larman an 18lb 3oz mirror, D Woodford a 27lb common and 21lb mirror while Michael Smith had two double figure commons on A2D Baits Spicy Crab and Mussel pop ups.
On the adjacent South Lagoon James Muncaster landed a 22lb 8oz mirror and a 14lb common, Chris Bartlett a 16lb common, Carl Barnett a 21lb 4oz common and 7lb 8oz tench, Robert Langdon seven bream to 7lb 8oz and Simon King a 10lb 4oz zander. Catch of the week from the South Lagoon has to be the 4lb 1oz perch reported by day ticket angler Craig Gibson and one of our bailiffs who saw the picture on Craigs phone confirmed it as being a very big perch.
Beckerings Reservoir is fishing well with lots of multiple catches, Mark Ridgeway caught several to 25lb 2oz, Trevor Mead landed three low 20’s with bailiff Mick Stringer having six off the top on three occasions during the week with fish to 21lb 12oz. The tench fishing has improved with many reporting good sized tench.
After 150 blank hours Harlo Buchan and James Boland’ luck changed on Beacon ACs Mount Farm Lake which Luton AC members can fish. A change of bait to Starmer Baits Coconut Fish resulted in 5 carp to 24lb 12oz a 7lb 6oz tench and three other carp which were hooked and lost during their 12 hour overnight session.
Our canal bailiff team has issued the following reminder as a member was found fishing under power lines this week ” All anglers fishing club waters, including the canal are reminded that fishing under power lines is not only extremely dangerous, but contrary to club rules and you will be dealt with accordingly which could see you banned from club waters or expelled from the club”
Saturdays work party at Woodland Lake was an enjoyable day. The twelve who attended enjoyed plenty of cups of tea and some banter, as well as the planned maintenance. The overhanging branches were pruned, all 16 platforms stained with preservative and the pathway topped up with wood chippings. The next work party is at Lavendon Mill on the 30th April start at 0930.
