David Summerfield fished the Grand Union Canal catching a 14lb 8oz common carp. Successful bait and tactics for David were a 15mm CC Moore N-Gage boilie cut in half and tipped with half a 15mm yellow pineapple hellraiser to add balance and colour. A pva bag was used with crushed N-Gage boilies and pellets and fished over 15 boilies with a Gardner size 8 covert mugger hook fished kd style.

Also on the canal were brothers Michael & Danny Smith with Michael having a 17lb 12oz mirror on CC Moore Odyssey XXX and Danny a 9lb common on Fishing Wizard ‘The Plums’. Both also had bream during their session.
Elsewhere decent bags of skimmers are being caught on Town South at the Tesco end and big perch are being caught on most sections.
On the South Lagoon ‘Old Mick’ managed a 4lb tench and 6lb 1oz bream with Stuart Sinclair banking an 8lb 11oz zander. The silver fish are back on the feed with anglers again catching plenty of roach and skimmers on float and feeder tactics.
On the adjacent North House Lake Mark Ridgeway landed commons of 23lb and 10lb.
At Beckerings Reservoir Mark Lougher caught a mirror carp that he had a fortnight previous at 24lb.
The Luton AGM was held on Thursday 24th March 2011 at the Luton Airport Social Club Proctor Way Luton where members were able to vote on a number of propositions. Subscriptions were increased by only £2 and the club hope to offer on-line memberships very soon. In the meantime card payments can be taken over the phone by calling 01582 603466.
Club Chairman David Edwards stood down after 49 years on the Board and David Murdoch was voted in as his replacement.
The next workparty is on Sunday 3rd April 2011 at North House Lake and the river.
The Fisheries Management is in great need of spades, shovels, forks, brooms, rakes, digging spoons for posts, post wackers, sledge hammers and wheelbarrows, any tools are gratefully received. This shortage was brought about by the theft of virtually every single piece of equipment the Club owned when the Tingrith container was broken into last autumn. Tools can be collected by calling David on 01582-413035.
British Waterways have asked for 3 or 4 volunteer members to dig 4 post holes for steel posts for some new signs at Slapton which should be of benefit to anglers. This will qualify for the work party exemption and the club is looking to complete the work on a Saturday morning very soon. Volunteers should contact David Edwards on 01582-728114 to discuss availability.
The club is looking for anybody in the Wyboston area that has any brick rubble. Could they leave it on the grass by the car park or contact one of the Bailiffs on the Wyboston Complex to arrange delivery. The rubble is needed by Sunday 3rd April 2011 to help backfill the sleeper retainers in the disabled swims.
