Michael Smith fished the Grand Union Canal for just a couple of hours but was rewarded with a 16lb 2oz mirror and a 14lb common with both fish falling to baits from the A2D Baits stable.
Bill Herbert and Tony Sessions have taken a rest from the Beckerings bream and roach hauling to spend some time at Woodland and Barretts Mere with good results.
Both anglers braved some cold weather on Tuesday and fished Woodland with Tony fishing the far end peg and Bill peg 1. Both fished with small hooks and pinkie/maggot hookbaits both being rewarded with a good mixed bag of silvers and bream with a few unseasonal, but very welcome tench.
The pair returned to Tingrith on Thursday and fished Barretts Mere. Both anglers presented pole fished maggot/pinkie hookbaits over pellet to the far bank margin and landed another good bag of silvers backed up with small carp and some nice crucians.
Alan Wilkie was on the River Great Ouse at Wyboston catching a 4lb 13oz chub while on the adjacent South Lagoon Craig Smith managed a 9lb pike and 4lb 2oz zander with Tom Mitchelson landing a 12lb pike a 2lb zander and three bream to 3lb. The best catch of the week was by Neil Groombridge fishing Cyanide Straight on the South Lagoon catching unseasonal tench of 5lb 2oz and 6lb along with eight bream to 5lb and two of 8lb.
The first reported carp of the year from North House Lake is probably one of its smallest residents a 7lb common which fell to an un-named angler.
At Beckerings Mark Ridgeway and James Muncaster banked several carp to 15lb along with numerous bream. Best reported fish of the week was 23lb to Fred Field with plenty of doubles coming out.

Sunday’s litter pick on the canal was poorly attended with only 6 bothering to turn up which included myself and the Luton AC Chairman. Whilst alot of rubbish was cleared from South of the Grove Lock pub the remainder sadly went untouched due to lack of support.
The next work party is on Sunday 12th March 2011 at Barretts Mere starting at 9am.
February’s photo competition winner will have the choice of 10kg of the new Starmer Baits Coconut Fish boilies or nearly £100 worth of Nash IC-1 and Nash Terminal Tackle.
