The Luton AC Board have voted to allow keepnets to be used again on the canal during the months of April and May, which is great news for the local match scene as well as pleasure anglers.
With immediate effect, Luton AC members can no longer fish the River Great Ouse at Haversham as the land has been sold.
A festive looking Phil Randall braved the snow to fish a partly frozen Beckerings Reservoir where he was rewarded with a 15lb 8oz common.
Just prior to the Grand Union Canal freezing over, Nash Director Alan Blair fished a couple of spots over 2 days, receiving 10 takes and landing 6 carp, the best being a 17lb 2oz common. All of Alan’s fish were caught using critically balanced Nashbaits Amber Strawberry fished on the far margin shelf tight to overhangs. Alan reports that one of the carp he lost was a much better fish and it’s those that keep him coming back, as there are some very big fish to be had from the Grand Union Canal.
Mark Simmonds has been catching zander steadily in recent weeks from the River Great Ouse with specimens to 10lb 4oz.
