The South Lagoon on the Wyboston Complex near St Neots has produced a brilliant 12lb 1oz bream for Chris Bennett.
On the same venue Mick Pennington caught a 19lb common on a tiger nut boilie using a size 6 ESP stiff rig and his fishing companion Terry Bodsworth had some good sized bream.
Also on the South Lagoon current Luton AC pike and zander record holder Danny Kelly fished peg 19 and caught zander of 8lb & 9lb plus a 12lb pike before moving a short distance to fish one of the disabled pegs on the River Great Ouse where he landed a superb 14lb zander.
Nearby on the river Andy Wilkins had a bream of 6lb on a boilie no doubt intended for some of the large carp there.
Also at the Wyboston Complex Shane Welch from Marston Moretaine fished North House Lake catching commons of 18lb & 27lb 6oz on Innovate Squid 2t steamies. Jack Heather had commons of 24lb, 16lb and 10lb on Nash Scopex Squid and a 19lb 2oz mirror on Squid 2t. Alan Jones caught a 15lb common on Scopex Squid and plastic corn and Brett Herdman had a 10lb common. North House is very weedy at present with reports from the bailiffs that fish are being lost. Members are asked to make sure that their rigs are safe and weights can be easily ejected in the event that a fish gets into the weed.
Steve Sharp also fished a short session at Tingrith and despite breaking his pole early on managed to catch 6 tench to 3lb, 4 carp between 2lb & 4lb and around 40 good sized skimmers all on just 4 pole sections, successful bait was pellet.
Canal bailiffs Darren & Karen Nicholson have been catching numerous double figure carp this week on the Grand Union Canal South of Leighton Buzzard with the largest a mirror being a new personal best for Karen at 18lb 12oz. Most of the fish were caught on Mainline strawberry boilies.
Anglers are advised to take care around the numerous bankside wasp nests as there seems to be an abundance of them at all of our canal, lake and river venues this year and they can be particularly aggressive during late summer/autumn.
Anglers are also reminded that it is an EA and club rule that baited lines are not left unattended. This includes fishing with bite alarms and hand held sounders whilst visiting other parts of the fishery. Anyone found to be breaking this rule could find themselves answering to the Luton AC Board.
