Hi Bob,
In most contests we have to use barbless hooks and I am losing a large proportion of the fish that I hook. Is there any way of keeping more fish on the hook? I am using a pole with Heavy Maver dual core elastic could this be the problem?
Thanks, Dave Robins
Hi Dave,
Yes, you are correct, the heavy elastic is the problem, try using a number 10 or 12 through the top three and set fairly light.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I have a fairly old carboxy match 36 blank that I recently had built up by Simpsons of Turnford. Such a lovely action blank that I felt it was worth the 65 quid to have it built. I got the blank off a mate of mine (last one) who had several and was given them by a rod builder who has since past away named Bob Jones from Waltham Cross. Apparently they was given to him by browning to have tips spliced into them but was unable to do them at the time because they were too slim. They are a black blank with a blue weave. Do you know anything about these? If so, do you know where I could get another one because I have broken 2 inches of the tip!?
Many Thanks, Wayne.
Hi Wayne,
I remember the blank, but I have no idea where you might find another one, sorry.
Good Luck, Bob Nudd.
Dear Sir,
I am looking for Van Den Eynde luggage that was available in the UK for a couple years back! The colour of the luggage is light blue with a five coloured rainbow trim. I hope you can help to find this kind of luggage? It is not the kind of luggage they use today!
Regards,
W. Kamping.
Hi,
Try giving our office a call on 01473 241811. Ask for Carolyn, she may have some idea.
Good luck, Bob Nudd.
Bob, I need your help,
I go to the River Derwent to fish for big pike and chub in a peg about 10 ft deep, how should I fish for them and what bait should I use? Also, for the pike, should I use dead baits or spoons?
Thanks, Chris.
Hi Chris,
If the river is clear then try spinning, if it is well coloured then use dead baits.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I was wondering if you know any good pole fishing waters and big fish waters in the West Midlands? Also, what do you use for bait when fishing for carp on the pole?
Please reply, Alex.
Hi Alex,
Woodlands View is a very good fishery it has a lot of carp of all sizes. Some of the best baits for carp are pellets, meat, corn and paste.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I need your help on how to land big carp on 9m pole, how should I play the fish and should I play them fast or slow?
Thanks, Chris
Hi Chris,
Point your pole at the fish when you first hook it, this will allow your elastic to come out smoothly, you can then apply more pressure once the fish has finished its first strong run.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I am just about to start pole fishing I have just bought a Maver Moby Dick pole. I am thinking of using 14 elastic because the pond I fish has some very big fish. What section would I have to put the elastic in?
Hi Luke,
Put the elastic through the top three sections.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I like to go river fishing for perch and chub. What is the best way of caching these fish and what bait should I use.
Thanks, Christopher.
Hello Chris,
Half a lobworm is a great bait for both of these fish, particularly if the river is well coloured.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I am 14 and I am a very good match angler in the summer but I struggle in the winter please give me some tips on the canals?
Thanks, Adam
Hi Adam,
Fishing is always more difficult in the colder months, particularly on canals where they tend to go very clear. Fish with small hooks and light line and feed very sparingly.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I’m a 14yr old angler I’ve been quite successful this season, but there’s one problem, I cant seem to catch as many fish at night as I do in the day.
I don’t know what I should do, I’ve tried a number of things such as trying different baits, rigs, ground mixes please can you give some tips?
Thanks, Tom
Hi Tom,
The problem is not all fish feed better at night, fish like big carp eels and zander feed well in the dark, but most other species are more easily caught during daylight hours.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Greetings from Co. Roscommon! I have just purchased a Black Magic 111. I find some of the joints exceedingly snug and difficult to fit. Can you give me any advice on how to ease the fit and can you tell me if Browning can supply joint protectors to fit the male joint. I am very happy with the pole except for the problem outlined.
Regards, Roy Stevenson
Hi Roy,
The main problem is the joints are almost parallel, use some fine wet and dry emery paper and rub down the joint until you get a smooth fit.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi bob!
I am 14 and I have just bought a 4m whip can you get ready made rigs for a whip, also I bought a Zebco carp rod and reel, I’ve been carp fishing on tutti frutti boilies on a hair rig but I can’t catch a carp can you help please?
Thanks, Matt Longden
Hi Matt,
Try using other baits such as sweetcorn, pellets or meat.
Good luck, Bob Nudd.
I am 15 and a keen angler, I would like to know what size hooks are best for carp, chub, bream and barbel when fishing 18mm boilies?
Thanks a lot Bob
Adam Robinson, Darlington
Hi Adam,
As long as you hair rig them it doesn’t matter what size hook you use, but I would think about a size 6 should be OK.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Are pole or spares sections still available for the PC 1711 Avon and Somerset?
Regards, Colin Robinson
Hi Colin,
The sections from the Black Magic 111 are available and they are all compatible with the sting.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I saw you on a programme on home and leisure. I’ve only been fishing a year and I use a 5.7m whip with number 14 elastic. I want to step up a bit but I have a tight budget of £60. Do you know any poles in that price range?
Your number 1 fan, Dominic.
P.S – I want to start carp fishing do you know any good spots around Leeds?
Hi Dominic,
From the Browning range there is a Syntec Pro-Canal at 8 metres it costs £69. It is a put over pole and will feel much better than your whip. I am not familiar with the carp fishing around Leeds, check out Angling Times as they have a good where to fish guide.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I fish a mate’s pool for carp using sweetcorn, the problem is it starts of good, catching every ten minutes for the first hour or so then it seems to go dead the rest of the day. There is only me fishing the pool and I have only ever used sweetcorn the pool has never been fished before until I started to go there. Do you know the reason for the fish to stop biting, as it seems to happen every time I go?
Many thanks, Phil.
Hi Phil,
There just may not be many fish in the pool, or you may be disturbing them as they are not used to anglers. Try feeding and fishing two different areas in your swim, also try using a different bait.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
Could you please give me any advice and tips about the best ways to use Chop Worm on the canals, like the shotting patterns of the float, etc?
Thanks, Barry.
Hi Barry,
Use a pole cup to feed accurately, also a float with a good size antenna. Feed with chopped small worms and then use a lob tail on the hook, this should catch you some big perch. The shotting pattern is not so important just keep the weight away from the hook and allow the worm to free fall through the water.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Just started pole fishing and I need to know a basic shot pattern for a pole that will always work, e.g. 80g float for a lake?
Cheers, Dave Wilkes
Hi Dave,
It is al
ways difficult to explain shotting patterns, what works one day does not always work the next. Try a 1 gram float with a .9 gram olivette and 3 no 11 shot below it; spread them equally from the hook length knot about 2 inches apart and set the olivette at two thirds of the depth.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Dear Bob,
I have recently started fishing in matches and want a pole that I can handle at 12.5 metres that does not cost the earth. The Black magic 3 has been recommended but are there any others that come near in terms of weight and length and price?
Thanks, Sue.
Hi Sue,
We have a new put over pole in the Browning range called an Aggressor Speed. It is an 11 metre pole with the option of an extension, slim and light and about the same price as the Black Magic.
Best regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Could you tell me how far rudd, carp and perch enter tidal waters? I’ve hunted the net looking for info; it would help me here down under!
Thanks, Jock
Hello Jock,
The main problem is the salt, freshwater fish will live quite happily in water affected by tidal flow. If you can find where the saltwater ends and the freshwater begins then you will find your fish.
Good Luck, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I’m a big fan of yours I read your tips in the angling times on roach. Could you give me some tips on how to catch carp please? Could you also send me an autograph and a picture of you?
From your big fan, Tom McCullagh
Hi Tom,
Try using larger baits such as sweetcorn, pellets or worms, which might catch you some carp. You must also remember that carp feed much less in the colder months and are more difficult to catch.
If you email me your address I will send you a signed photo.
Good fishing Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Do you know where fishomania is going to be this year and have you ever fished Bradshaw Hall Fisheries? If you have, what is the best method you would suggest for Lake 3?
Cheers, Johnny
Hello Johnny,
It will be at the same venue as last year, Hayfield fishery near Doncaster. I am not sure if I have ever fished at Bradshaw Hall, I fish at so many different venues it’s a job to remember them all!
Best regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
My Dad has bought me a Browning Master Match 13f 3.9m code 1755 390 IM carbon rod. Can you give me some advice on how to balance my rod and what are the best tactics for this rod? I have a Mitchell MX40 reel, is this OK?
Regards, Catrin Louise Hurt (12y)
Hello Catrin,
With the new ultra light carbon rods there is no need to balance them. The Mitchell MX 30 is fine. The rod can be used for stick float, waggler or small carp fishing.
Best regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I’ve always being wanting to know, How do you become famous in fishing like yourself, is it a good life and how could I become a known fisherman?
Good fishing, James 15
Hello James,
It means a lot of hard work as you strive to become one of the top anglers in the country, either at catching specimen fish or match fishing. Writing for one of the angling mags can also help.
Good luck, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I have a Browing keepnet but the problem I have it is under 8 months old and the part that you screw the bank stick into has now snapped. I have tried to get a new part with no joy. Any idea where I would be able to find this piece? The keepnet is the type that has a hexagon bar not round, and the part was made of cheap plastic.
Hope you maybe able to help
Thanks, Tony
Hello Tony,
Spares are not available for these items, try taking it back to the tackle shop and see if they will exchange it.
Best regards, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
I’m 13 and have been fishing for 2 years and have just stared matches. Could you tell me how old you have to be to join a club?
Thanks, Johnny
Hello Johnny,
At 13 years you should be old enough to join most clubs, you will find that the larger clubs also have a special junior section.< /p>
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I’ve got a few matches lined up and want to try the bagging waggler. When is the best time to use it and what should I use it with? I’m only 12 so I can’t spend too much, please can you help me?
PS – I met you at Dean’s Farm, thanks for coming.
Paul Shorter.
Hi Paul,
You will need a strong waggler rod and strong line (about 8lb) this is a summer method when the carp are on the surface.
Good Fishing, Bob.
Hi Bob,
I would just like to ask a question. I am a big fan of your fishing and have brought myself many poles to become as good as yourself but I can only fish a local fishery because I don’t drive and find transport very hard. Recently I have found fishing in the winter very hard because I seem to blank almost each week, not sure if it is anything to do with how I’m fishing or how I present my bait or could even be my rig. The only main problem we face is that we cannot use particle baits or floating baits (i.e. groundbait, cupping corn, floating bread). Can you give me any tips?
Thanks, A. Daniels
Hi,
Maggots should get you plenty of bites in winter and you should hardly ever blank, try using small hooks and fine lines.
Good luck, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
I am asking on behalf of keen fisherman, you did a show or demonstration at Peterborough showground in summer of 2004. He wants to know were you bought your fishing platform from? The one where the front folds down for your feet. This is the way he described to me. I hope you can answer my question for him.
Dave
Hi Dave,
You can buy them from my website, www.bobnudd.com
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
I am relatively new to the fishing scene I have spent a fair amount of money however on tackle. I have a pole and I am planning to fish Weston Lake Peakirk in Peterborough. Have you ever fished there and are there any all round helpful hints? I am looking to fish for medium size carp and some large silver fish. I would also like some advice on ready made pole rigs for a still water about 5ft deep and of a fair size?
Thanks Gareth
Hello Gareth,
I am sorry but I have never fished this lake so I don’t have any information for you. There are a good range of ready made pole rigs available in most tackle shops, pick one between .5 and .75 grams with about 4lb main line.
Good fishing ,Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
What elastic would you suggest using for river barbel?
Thanks, Dave Bradley.
Hello Dave,
Use a no 14 elastic through the top 3, good luck though as river barbel are very powerful.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I am always fishing with a 13m pole, but on a lake in Kosovo (Badovc), I have a problem with the small fish, how can I escape them? We have in this lake; bream, carp, tench, and smaller fish like perch. Can you help me?
With all respect, from JETON
Hello Jeton,
Use big baits such as boilies, hair rigged maize, luncheon meat or large worms this should eliminate the small fish.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
My friend is selling a Maver 13ft Euromatic carp pole in immaculate condition, how much do you think this is worth?
Hello Chris,
I am sorry but I am not sure of the original price for this pole, ask him how much he paid for it, and try to get it for about half price.
Good luck, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I am trying to get some help in buying a new pole. I have been using a 6m margin pole to get used to using a pole. I would like to move on now to a longer pole, I have a budget of £300 to spend. I fish a local commercial lake stocking small carp up to about 5lbs in weight. I cannot use a rod and line as my disability restricts my movement hence the pole. Unfortunately the local tackle shops do not stock a large range of poles they will order me one but I have to pay the postage. Hence most of my purchases are made on line. so I have not got the opportunity to try one out first. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Steve
Hello Steve,
I am afraid that I do not have product awar
eness of all the poles on the market. The best one that Browning do in your price range is the Syntec Lethal Weapon 11 it is available at 11.5 and 13mtrs and with extra kits should be within your price range. It is a powerful pole taking elastics up to a size 20.
Hope this helps, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
When fishing for roach and skimmers loose feeding over groundbait I often feel that the fish are rising up in the water. How much should I shallow up at a time to seek the fish? Should I attempt to change the feeding pattern to force the fish down? – I’m reluctant to do this as I don’t want to overfeed the fish.
Thanks, Geoff
Hi Geoff,
Don’t worry about the fish coming up in the water this is the best way to catch them as they are always more competitive when feeding shallow.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I have just brought a margin pole to use on a lake we fish. I have never used a pole before and do not know which elastic to use. The lake holds crucian carp tench and carp up to about 14lbs. I’m told if the elastic is too heavy I will miss the cruisian bites and to light will lose me the bigger carp. Which one would give me the best chance of landing all?
Cheers, Mark Potter
Hi Mark,
A size 10 elastic should be perfect for your needs, good for the small carp but also able to land big fish.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Do you know any good fishing lakes in Herefordshire, and if so, what bait should I use?
Many Thanks, Luke
Hi Luke,
Check out the where to fish guide in Angling Times they always have up to date information.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I am 14 years old and a very keen angler – I go fishing most Saturday’s to the Herefordshire Angling Academy. I recently beat my personal best (14lb mirror carp) which I caught on my pole. However, that particular day was very windy and my Shakespeare Zeta pole was very hard to handle in the wind. Do you have any tips?
Many Thanks, Luke Baker
Hi Luke,
All poles are difficult to handle in windy conditions, even my £3000 pole.
Try to fish with the wind directly behind you in bad conditions.
Good luck, Bob Nudd.
——————————————————————————–
Hi Bob. I’m going to Ireland in May; the river Inny where it joins Lough Ree. Can you give me some tips for catching the bream and roach?
From Trevor
Hello Trevor,
This is a great time of the year for the Inny, as the fish come out of the lock to spawn and can be caught in great numbers. The pole is the best method but the tip will also work for the bream. Red maggots and worms will be the best baits.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob
I have recently started using hollow elastics; I want to know if you think a drennan bungee 10-12 will be heavy enough for fishing for carp up in the water in the 2-7lb range? Or would I be better going for the 14-18? Or would this be too heavy?
Thanks, John.
Hi John,
10-12 should be fine; you can always adjust the tension if it is taking to long to land the fish. Hollow elastics are softer and stretch more than conventional elastic.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I’m a keen 15yr old carp angler, and I fish a local lake called Lakeview, there was an article on it a few weeks back in the angling times, what baits would you say are the best for the carp, I mainly fish with maggot but I only get roach. Also, I was wondering if you could give me advice on poles, I recently had a physco carp pole, but it has split twice now and I’m fed up of buying new sections, do you know of any strong but light poles around 11m that are around £100-£140.
Cheers Luke
Hello Luke,
Try using expander or soft hooker pellets on the hook, feed with 2mm fishmeal pellets this should eliminate the roach and allow you to catch the carp. The best pole in the Browning range within your budget is the Syntec Encounter 11 metre. Strong and light it is good for silver fish or Carp elastic rating up to a 14.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi bob,
I’ve been fishing for a little over 2 years and every time I go on the river I never catch anything apart from minnows I’ve been fishing with baits such as; meat, maggots, worms and caster and I never have any success is there any other baits or methods I should try font>
Regards Graham Everett
West Yorkshire
Hello Graham,
Try using large baits such as lobworms or pellets or anything that is too big for the minnows to take.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob
Where can I get the one handed bait feeder that you used at Mallory Park? I don’t seem to be able to find one on the internet, not sure what you call it either.
Regards Clive
Hello Clive,
It is called an EZ Feeda, the manufacturer is T&T Tackle. Telephone 0794 1111819.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
With ref to long pole techniques in your video for carp, at Mallory Park, please can you give me info on the catapult you used and where you I can get one?
Thanks. Peter, Liverpool
Hello Peter,
This one handed catapult if now called an EZ Feeda, the manufacture is T&T Tackle. Telephone 0794 111819.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
HI Bob,
I am a 13 year old angler playing matches regularly I want to buy a light 9 metre pole or whip could you recommend one under £100.
Thanks, Dawn
Hi Dawn,
Browning have a very good budget priced pole, it’s called a Syntec Grand Prix you should be able to buy it for about £100 it comes with an extra top kit and is 9.5 metres. Good luck with your purchase,
Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
What kind of elastic, rigs, and bait would I need for a 4m whip fishing on a canal?
Hope you can help, David Carberry
Hi David,
Number 4 elastic with light rigs (about .5 grams) with maggots or worms on the hook.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I will be fishing a lake in May containing tench, roach, bream, carp trout & rudd. What would be the best groundbait & baits to use on this lake I will be using a 6m whip with 14 elastic?
MR C MASON
Hi,
Loose feed maggots for the trout and rudd, Van den Eynde Expander gold will be a good groundbait for the carp and tench with expander pellets or sweetcorn on the hook.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd
Hi Bob,
I have great respect for your fishing, and believe that you will be able to solve an on-going problem of mine. How do you feed at the start of a session on commercial water full of carp and silver fish? I am after the carp, so how do I avoid the silvers? Please will you tell me how to feed throughout the year and in different weather seasons?
Thanks, Huge Respect, Greg Armstrong
Hi Greg,
Use larger baits such as pellets, sweetcorn and paste this should eliminate your silver fish. Adjust your feeding according to conditions; feed more when the water is warm and less when it is cold.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I fish a very shallow carp lake with lots of features and was wondering should i start my session hard on the bottom or shallow up? I feed a lot of hemp and pellets.
From Rob Morris
Hi Rob,
As the lake is shallow start on the bottom, if you see the fish coming up then you could try nearer the surface.
Good Fishing, Bob Nudd.
To Bob,
I have just purchased a new fishing pole, and it is 13 metres long. The problem I have with this pole is that my last two sections get stuck together when I try to open the pole when I go fishing, they are still stuck together now and need help in ways in which they will disengage, are there any methods I can try to stop the two sections getting stuck together or are there any products I can buy to free the 2 sections?
From Ben Woodall
Hi Ben,
You will need two people to help you, one on either end pulling in opposite directions while you tap gently on the stuck joint with side of your hand, as you would with a Karate chop but much gentler. Some poles suffer from this just take great care when putting the problem sections together.
Good Luck, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Read an article about bagging wagglers last November and have lost the web address of a person who makes them to order, would you know where I can order these?
Regards, Keith.
Hi Keith,
Drennan International make these floats; most retailers will be able to get them for you.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
I’m going to start tying my own spade end hooks again after a few years of buying ready tied. I fish for a mix of coarse fish on rivers, canals and commercial lakes. Can you recommend a make of hook line suitable for this, say from one & a half pound to five pound breaking strain?
Best wishes, John
Hi John,
I use Browning pole line; Drennan double strength is also very good. Just make sure you use a hi-tech pre stretched line.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
We are finding it hard to buy pole floats where the line feeds though the centre of the float have you any suggested makes and where I could purchase them from?
Thanks, Les Jeavons
Hi Les,
Most of the major manufactures have a range of pole floats with the line going through the middle, the Milo range is about the best. Check out some of the larger mail order companies.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
I have a Browning Carboxy Feeder 1038360 L.11ft6in 3,60 1/2/3oz. How heavy a feeder and lead can I cast with this rod?
Dugi from Serbia
Hi Dugi,
This is a light medium feeder, about 30 grams maximum.
Regards, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I have recently bought a new Maver Moby dick 2 and I was wondering what elastic I should use for 3-4lb carp. I have heard hydro elastic is good.
From Adam (14)
Hi Adam,
Just a normal Number 10 or 12 elastic will be sufficient, Hydro is very expensive and you will have to cut your tip back more.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
How do I keep my groundbait fizzing for longer?
Many thanks, Mark
Hi Mark,
Try using Van Den Eynde Explosive feeder it has a good percentage of hemp and the oil will make the groundbait fizz.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi bob,
Could you give me some tips for my local chesterfield canal I’ve seen a koi carp around 7lb but what is the correct bait and where should I fish?
From Daniel Bexton
Hi Danel,
Fish close to the far bank with lobworms or small boilies.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob
You are one of my angling idols could you tell me how I could catch some good tench on the float (they are my favourite fish and I’ve only caught one)?
Thanks a lot, Owain
Hi Owain,
Try some commercial waters which hold a good head of tench. See last weeks angling times I have caught quite a few lately.
Good fishing,
Bob Nudd
Hi Bob,
I do a lot of pole fishing but when it comes to ground bait it all goes wrong I need to no how do I keep ground bait fizzing for longer?
Thanks, Mark
Hi Mark,
You seem to like fizzing!!! Just use some grilled hemp in your groundbait and it will fizz for ever.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd
Hi Bob,
Have you ever fished Higham Lane Fishery near Hinckley. I have a club match there at the weekend and am unsure how to fish it? I have been told that it holds a very good head of roach with tench, bream gudgen perch and a lot of carp in the 5-7lb range with a few F1’s and pasties.
Hello Lee,
I have never fished at Higham Lane, I would target the F1 and the carp, and Feed with 2-3mm feed pellets and fish with 4mm expander pellets on the hook.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I want to go fishing for chub down my local river (River Frome, Somerset). What baits and tips have you go for me the bag up on them?
Cheers, Robert
Hello Robert,
Cheese, Lobworms and bread all work well for big chub.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
I’m 15 yrs old and I started fishing 2 years ago, what would your best tips be to catch a perch over 2lb on the Dorset Stour? You have fished it a lot over the course of last summer and winter and had no luck for a 2 pounder.
Thanks from Josh in Bournemouth
Ps. if I send you my details would it be possible to have your autograph
Thanks again!
Hello Josh,
Fish with lobworms on the hook but pick a dull day or late evening this is when big perch feed best. If you Email me your address I will send you a signed photo.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Hello Bob,
I wonder if you could help me, I need to find out where a Fishing Venue is but unable to get any information, I am in a fishing match on the 17th July at Scrooby in Doncaster. Please could you tell me if you know this venue and how to fish it?
Many thanks, T Gregory
Hello,
I have fished around the Doncaster area, but I have never fished at Scrooby.
And so I am unable to give you any information on how to fish it.
Sorry, Bob Nudd.
Hi Bob,
Hello I’m 14 and I usually float fish but I wish to start using hair rigs and I have made them and stuff but I don’t understand whether you use a bite indicator or float could you please explain?
Thank You, Jim Griffiths
Hello Jim,
You can use any bite indicator; a hair rig is just another way of hooking your bait by means of line attached to your hook leaving you hook completely free.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd.
Dear Bob,
I am fishing at the Deep Pit Located in Hindley near Wigan (Also a Pond around there is called Square Lodge). I am fishing next to some weeds on the bottom, on Home Made Paste (Breadfeed & Egg). But I only catch very small fish (crucian carp & tench), Have you got any ideas at all that will help me catch bigger fish and how to bring more fish around my float (I don’t mind buying any ingredients over the internet or in shop if you give me some websites etc)? I just want to catch a few bigger carp, tench – Mirrors and Common. I am also fishing on pole if this will help.
Thanks, Adrian Harlow
Hi Adrian,
Try using a harder bait such as pellets or boilies, this will deter the smaller fish.
Good fishing, Bob Nudd
