These days, ‘overnighting’ seems to be part and parcel of many branches of angling. A fisherman’s bivvy becomes his home from home, as he starts to build up a collection of bits and pieces to make life away from the four walls of a house that bit more comfortable.
One of the most important “accessories” is a bedchair. Quite apart from sleeping on your bedchair, let’s face it, in a climate like ours session anglers may find themselves spending a fair amount of time inside their bivvies! Needless to say, if you have the means, it’s worth investing in a bedchair that’s comfortable AND able to cope with a wet climate. The Cocoon 3 from JRC may well be just the piece of kit you need…
First things first, the Cocoon 3 comes ready assembled. No messing around trying to get the tension right on lengths of elastic, no trying to join bits of metal together with ‘Bolt E’ and ‘Nut W’. That’s left to the experts, all you have to do is open the box, pull out the bedchair and put it in the back of the car. No worries!
If, like me, you keep your footwear on at all times when session fishing, you’ll be pleased to know that the bottom ‘quarter’ of the bedchair is protected by a waterproof covering AND the whole of the bedchair is rot proof. All you have to do if it gets wet is let it dry before storing it. Now, I’m not saying that you should go throwing the Cocoon 3 into a lake just to test this theory, but it is comforting to know that you can come in from the rain and not have to strip off before hopping on!
Best of all, though, the Cocoon 3 is comfortable. And I MEAN comfortable. It has a built in pillow and plenty of padding. Ask anyone who has fished with me whether I’ve slept well on it…the noise of my snoring is well knownJ
I can’t sit here and pretend that one bedchair will catch you more fish than another, but if you value your comfort and are fortunate enough to be in a position to pay a bit more than some others, then make sure you take a look at the JRC Cocoon 3 Bedchair. It’s comfortable, fisherman friendly and hassle free, allowing you to concentrate on your fishing in a refreshed state!
RRP for the JRC Cocoon 3 is £249.99, but I have seen it for less in various shops. Do some phoning around now! You may well pick up a bargain.
